2년전 캐나다의 권위있는 ‘노바티스’ 제약회사를 다니고 있는
사위(Tim Rice)로부터 그룹으로 자전거 타고 가는 그림을 부탁받았다.
이 자전거 그룹은 해마다 토론토에서 몬트리올까지 600킬로미터를
자전거를타고 가면서 유방암 퇴치를 위한 (Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation)
모금을 한다. 물론 사위도 해마다 여기 동참하고있다.
내가 그려준 아래 (그룹) 그림을 옥션에 부치기위함 이었는데 옥션에 들어가기 전에 노바티스
제약회사에서 마음에 든다고 단번에 1천불에 구입하여 본사에 걸어두었다. 사위는 이 일을
매우 자랑스럽게 생각하고 있으면 나도 그림 그리는 보람을 느끼게된다.
이 행사에 참여하는데는 일주일가량 걸리는데 자전거도 몇 천불씩 하는 것을 본인이
사야한다고 한다. 이 행사의 마지막 몇 날 전은 초죽음이 될 정도로 힘들다고 한다.
이 자전거 그룹은 노바티스 제약회사 모두 직원들이다. 금년 이 그룹의 목표액은 1백만불이라고 한다.
앞날에 유방암으로 고생하는 여성이 없게하기위해 노력하는 이 노바티스 회사 직원
들에게 박수를 보낸다. 날로 많은 여성들이 유방암으로 고생하는데 이들은 우리들의 딸이요
엄마요 동생이요 친구들이다. 이들에게 희망을 주며 살아갈 용기를 줄수 있기위해 벌리는
자전거 타기운동에 많은 참여를 부탁드린다.

I’m participating in a special event in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
CIBC Run for the Cure this fall as 25+ Novartis employees, committed to raising money
for the CBCF, will be getting on our bikes and taking on the challenging 600 km ride from
Toronto, ON to Dorval, QC from September 13-16, 2014.
You can make a difference too! With your support, the Foundation will continue funding
breast cancer research, education, awareness, advocacy and health promotion initiatives
across the country, aimed to significantly reduce the burden of breast cancer in Canada.
